As soon as I pulled over to the side and I put my car in park, Smoke shot through every vent in my car. My back vents, my front vents, it was so cloudy, I couldn't see my car. By the time the smoke kind of cleared, I realized the front of my car was in flames. There was a man that jumped out of his truck. He had a fire extinguisher with him and I saw him spraying a fire extinguisher on the front of my car, but the flames were getting bigger, I'm still trying to get out, I'm trying to get out. Finally, my seatbelt comes loose, I threw over my door, I jumped out, now there was a struggle getting two kids out of their car seats in the back of my car while watching the front of it engulfed in flames.
The man came, he helped me, by the time I got out, I couldn't move. I was watching my car, I had these kids, I could see, I could hear, but it just wasn't processing. The man, I could hear him saying, run, run, run, and I'm in shock and I see the kids and I'm not really grasping what's going on. I don't know what moved me. I don't know how I got from that car to those kids to a couple yards away under a bridge, but I moved, something moved me, maybe 15 to 20 seconds out of getting out of that car and being moved, it exploded. It took two fire trucks, they had to shut down the highway.
Once I made it to the side with them, my knees buckled, I just said thank you God. Once the fire was put out and they were able to load it onto the tow truck, I said I just want to see it, I just want to see it before you take it away. And I started in the front, everything under your engine is metal. There was no metal, it was all melted. My glass was busted. I tried to open up the door, they said, because the electronic part under the hood got destroyed, the doors wouldn't open, they had to be pried open. So we made it out before my system could lock up, the doors were able to open for us.
When I looked at my car, the dashboards completely melted, the roof of my car gone, there was nothing that brought me out of that, but God, that was it for me. And I'm just grateful to be here and to share this with y 'all. So thank you and God bless y 'all.
